General Information
The Central District (CD) was organized for Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) San Antonio area Physical Therapists (PT) and Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA).
The Central District has over 400 members. We are also fortunate to have two physical therapy programs (Baylor University at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and at University of Texas Health Science Center - San Antonio) and one physical therapist assistant program (St. Phillip's College, San Antonio) in our district.
Activities
The Central District sponsors a variety of events for its members. Events include:
monthly meetings with CEUs available for most programs
participation in community health fairs and activities in support of October Physical Therapy Month
continuing education workshops
scholarships for PT and PTA students
and involvement in legislative issues impacting PT practice and healthcare
Our elected delegates are also your voice in the business of the APTA. Through its varied activities, the district also offers career development opportunities with various committee appointments and elected positions.
Membership
The current TPTA and American Physical Therapy Association combined dues for membership are
$400 for active (PT) and
$260 for affiliate (PTA) members. Student membership
(PT/PTA) is $90. Central District invites membership from all physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and PT/PTA students. Non-members are invited to attend meetings and to participate in a project to experience the benefits of membership.
With the current changes and uncertainty within health care, now is the time to be an active part of your professional organization. TPTA has fought and won important legislative battles and lawsuits that directly impact on your practice. However, to continue, we need the help of all licensed Texas physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.
Your TPTA membership and service are crucial to help us uphold the integrity and practice of physical therapy. Help ensure the continued viability and future of your profession.
