![]() | The United States Army was the genesis for the "Physical Therapy Experience." With a proud tradition going back to the Red Cross Reconstruction Aides, there are still soldiers in the active duty, reserve, and retired components who today continue to administer those techniques which decrease pain, increase range of motion, increase strength, endurance and most important - treat a patient like a "person", not a condition. We try to "be all we can be" ...and then some. Many of us were very fortunate to have outstanding mentors and NCOs who sometimes made decisions which were not popular with the commissioned officers but got the job done. Some 91Js were wrongly reprimanded or worse due to the ignorance or CYA attitude from seniors...but in the longrun we persevere by teaching our Physical Therapy Specialists to lead, using common sense, humor, persistence, integrity, tact, morale courage, and any other means to accomplish the mission, in a legal and caring manner.
